Installation of your New Shade

  1. Great !!! your shade sail has been delivered.
  1. Take it out of the box and lay it on the ground where you intend the shade sail to go.
  1. Now choose how you are going to support the shade sail and check that the fixing points are good and strong.
  1. Always allow at least 350mm diagonally from each corner of the sail for your fixing points whether it’s your house or a pole.
  1. Poles should be at least 5” in diameter with a 1/3rd of the poles height concreted into the ground. Metal posts are recommended but a good 5” to 6” wooden post is more than capable of safely securing a DIY shade.
  1. A good size hole, the bigger the better, should be dug for the posts and filled with concrete to provide a strong fixing for your shade.
  1. Fix your Pad eyes firmly in place. This will enable you to attach your shade with snap hooks. Use your turnbuckles to provide enough required tension to make the sail rigid (shades should always be tensioned as this prevents the sails from flapping and reducing the life of the product).
  1. By changing the heights of the fastenings, you can easily obtain a really cool shape with your sail.  Contorting the shade sail will also help deflect and spill the wind, reducing the pressure on the fixing points.
  1. If you have any doubts about your shade in very wet and windy weather, always bring the shade down and store it safely.
  1. Now get out the tables, chairs, toys and sand pits and enjoy the summer, cool and relaxed knowing you and your loved ones are protected from the sun.

You should not:

* Install the sail over barbecues or areas exposed to fire/open flames
* Expose to chemicals such as chlorine as these may lead to premature breakdown of the sail
* Leave out in strong wind and during the winter months
